Flying Lotus, born Steven Ellison, is a Grammy Award-winning producer, musician, composer, and filmmaker from Los Angeles. Known for his boundary-defying approach to music and storytelling, he has emerged as one of the most influential and creative voices in modern experimental music and visual art. Over the span of his career, Flying Lotus has earned more than 608 million streams on Spotify alone. His first release on Brainfeeder will be a frenetic EP, described as bombastic, esoteric, and completely unique.

Flying Lotus first gained recognition with his 2006 debut 1983, but it was Los Angeles (2008) and Cosmogramma (2010) that firmly established him as a pioneer in the LA beat scene. Cosmogramma blended jazz improvisation with cosmic textures and is widely regarded as one of the greatest electronic albums of all time. Subsequent albums like Until the Quiet Comes (2012) and Youre Dead! (2014) showcased his growing ambition. Youre Dead!, a concept album about the afterlife, featured Kendrick Lamar, Thundercat, and Herbie Hancock, and is considered a modern classic.
