Basic Strategies for Going Out brings together the two Peel Sessions recorded by Huggy Bear in 1992 and 1993. Featuring eight tracks in total - including two previously unreleased songs and a revelatory early version of Her Jazz - the collection captures the band’s fanatical gaiety at full force.

For a group so deeply invested in opposition, the opportunity to confront the stifled decorum of the BBC sparked a nitroglycerin blaze. From outraged to rousing, from coy to hell-bent, Basic Strategies for Going Out reveals the extremes a band can reach when working at ferocious intensity.

Released by arrangement with the BBC, Basic Strategies for Going Out was mastered by Fred Thomas from the original session recordings. It is the first Huggy Bear recording issued since 1994 and currently their only commercially available release.
