Originally recorded in 1972, only 12 copies of this album were ever pressed on vinyl, strictly for promotional purposes. The album was shelved, hidden deep within Polydor Germany's warehouse until it was rediscovered and reissued in the 90s. At first glance, it's easy to see why. The album is mostly comprised of the sound of bamboo sticks hitting various surfaces, interspersed with looping whistles and casually trippy field recordings. But listen carefully, and you'll become aware of a symphony of textures and sounds, hiding just beneath your immediate perception.

Compared to the avant-pop that Moore would become famous for with Slap Happy and Henry Cow later in the 1970s, Reed Whistle & Sticks is raw experimentation. The result of an avant-garde genius letting his imagination run free, completely unrestricted by any musical conventions. P-Vine is proud to be reissuing Moore's experiment in texture and looping for the first time on vinyl format, and bring new accessibility to an album that has been impossible to source on vinyl for half a century.
