Our Review:
Like the title suggests, Opium Musick originally released in 2003, is a dreamy hallucinogenic journey into long-form slow building raga visions. Featuring Mike Gangloff from Pelt and Glynn Jones from Cul-De-Sac, these four tracks feature mesmerizing solo and duo guitar sometimes interlaced over moving tambura foundations. Eastern and western influences of slide guitar and raga drone meld into drifting sun-dappled meditations. Rose's playing here is more drawn out and considered, letting subtleties and space create a ponderous atmosphere of stunning beauty and melancholy.
